David Bailey, Four Beats to the Bar and No Cheating

This compelling documentary explores the life of one of the great living artists, David Bailey. Bailey is frequently referred to as Britain’s best photographer, though he’s an avid sculpture, painter and director of commercials and documentaries too. While his work appears minimalist and understated, this documentary reveals his painstaking perfectionism behind it all, particularly in regard to his photographic portraits, where he seeks to extract the bare essence of the subject and nothing else. Bailey is supremely cool, talented and alluring – after watching this documentary all I want is to call him for a chat.
